Indian Border Security Force (BSF) killed one more Bangladeshi along Ohedpur border in sadar upazila in Chapainawab- ganj early Monday as the killing spree on Bangladesh border continues unabated despite India's repeated pledges to stop such killings.

With this BSF killed 22 Bangladeshi nationals in last three months and 102 in last 13 months. The number of Bangladeshis killed by BSF during the nine years period from January 1, 2000 to April 12, 2010 stands at 827.
BSF also injured 859 and abducted 898 Bangladeshis in the same period.

According to UNB News Agency, a cattle trader was shot dead by BSF along Ohedpur border in sadar upazila in Chapainawabganj early Monday. The victim was identified as Habibur Rahman, 33, son of Firoz Ali of Kalupur village of sadar upazila.BDR sources said, BSF men of Chandnichwak camp shot Habibur at about 2.00 am along the main pillar no-16 when he went there to bring cattle with some other cattle traders, leaving him dead on the spot. Later his companions recovered his body. BDR sent a letter to BSF protesting the incident.

The killings of unarmed Bangladeshis by the BSF on the border are continuing in clear violation of the spirit of good neighborliness as well as international law and despite repeated pledges by the Indian authorities to stop it.In every meeting between BSF and BDR and also between the higher level officials of the two countries, the Indian side assures that killing of Bangladeshis by its forces on the border would come to an end immediately. But this pledge is seldom implemented.
