The BNP chairperson, Khaleda Zia, on Sunday night termed suicidal the $1 billion deal Dhaka signed with India’s Exim Bank on Saturday.
‘There was no need to borrow the amount from India now. People will have to shoulder the burden,’ she said as she welcomed the Chittagong city unit committee of Jatiya Mahila Party to Jatiyatbadi Mahil Dal in her office office at Gulshan.
Khaleda said the corruption level of the government was increasing day by day. ‘No development activities could be done for its corruption. Investment has slumped. The government is crippling the economy.’
Khaleda urged all to stand united to fight the misdeeds and misrule of the government.
Jesmina Khanam, president of Jatiya Mahila Party Chittagong unit, joined the women’s wing of the BNP by handing over a bouquet to Khaleda.
The BNP’s vice-chairmen Selima Rahman and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Mahila Dal president Nure Ara Safa were present.
